1. Using a Glass That Is Too Small
When a glass is filled almost to the brim, it becomes harder to appreciate the wine’s aromas. Choose a glass with enough room for the bouquet to develop, and fill it to about one-third of its capacity.
2. Serving Wine at the Wrong Temperature
Red wine served too cold can taste harsh, while wine served too warm loses its balance and its alcohol becomes more pronounced. Most red wines are best served at 14–18°C (57–64°F), and white wines at 8–12°C (46–54°F).
3. Leaving an Open Bottle on the Table
Once opened, wine comes into contact with oxygen and gradually changes in flavor. Seal the bottle tightly and store it in the refrigerator, even if it contains red wine.
4. Assuming That More Expensive Wine Is Always Better
A wine’s price reflects more than just its quality. It can also depend on the region, the producer’s reputation, the wine’s rarity, and the production methods used.
