Wine is one of the oldest beverages in the world. Winemaking in Armenia began more than 6,100 years ago.
There are more than 10,000 grape varieties in the world. Each variety reacts differently to soil and climate, which is why wine made from the same grape can taste different in different countries.
Red wine gets its color from the grape skins. During fermentation, the juice remains in contact with the skins, which gives the wine its rich color.
